Nang Loy
The Fragrance of Thai Floral Water, Drifting Its Fragrance Through the City
If you catch a whiff of a uniquely Thai fragrance during Songkran, there’s no need to search for the source—every Thai knows it’s the scent of Nang Loy Thai Floral Water, a fragrance that has been cherished for over a century.
The secret behind this captivating aroma was created by Mae Hiang , who expertly blended the scents of Thai flowers and herbs with Western perfumes that were gaining popularity at the time. The cool and refreshing fragrance of Nang Loy floral water drifted through Nang Loy Market, captivating passersby and becoming so beloved that the name stuck across the city. Originally, the product was sold by the jar at the market, where customers would bring their own containers to fill. As demand grew, the business expanded, bottling the fragrant water so that people beyond the market could also experience its delightful aroma—while still keeping the name Nang Loy, in honor of its origins.

Despite gaining nationwide popularity, every product from Nang Loy remains meticulously crafted. The herbal water is still boiled over a wood fire, carefully blended, and left to absorb the scent of candle smoke in dozens of ceramic jars. In addition to floral water, Nang Loy has expanded into a variety of aromatic products, including Nang Loy scented talcum powder, Nang Loy white clay powder, Nang Loy scented candles, and aromatic candles infused with the traditional Thai floral water scent. The brand has even ventured into spa products, ensuring that this timeless Thai fragrance continues to float through generations to come.
