Bae Hai Lim Shredded Pork

Connecting the journey of pork, Hua Lamphong, and a blessing for good fortune

In the past, most pork arrived in Bangkok by train. Once it reached Hua Lamphong, it was brought to Trok Rong Moo (Butchers’ Alley) for slaughtering, processing, and distribution. The founder of Bae Hai Lim shredded pork, an immigrant from China who settled near Hua Lamphong Market, started his business selling fresh pork and making Chinese sausages. Over time, he expanded his product line to include shredded pork, sweet pork, pork jerky, and other pork-based delicacies. His shop became a must-visit for anyone passing through the area, whether to stock up for home or as a thoughtful gift from a long train journey.

This is why Bae Hai Lim’s packaging features the blessing “Good Luck”—not only as a symbol of prosperity but also as a distinctive brand identity. Over the years, this has become so iconic that people now simply refer to it as Shredded Pork Good Luck.
