For generations, the bright yellow sachet of Viset Niyom powder toothpaste has been a household staple—cherished by elderly users who remember it from their youth and admired by new generations drawn to its classic design. But look closely at its iconic logo, and you’ll notice the intertwined letters ผ. จ. in the center of a rabbit gazing at the moon. This detail carries a romantic origin: it represents the initials of Phin Chaemwichasorn, the founder born in the Year of the Rabbit, and Luang Chaemwichasorn, her husband, born on a full moon night.

Long before toothpaste became mass-produced, Luang Chaemwichasorn was a teacher at Wat Nuannoradit School, living near Khlong Bang Luang. He suffered from scurvy, gum bleeding, and swollen gums, and after failing to find relief from medical treatments, he was given a traditional herbal remedy by Chamuen Sithisanyarak. The results were remarkable. Recognizing its effectiveness, Chamuen entrusted the formula to Phin, who began making the herbal mixture and distributing it to students and locals. The demand grew so much that in 1921 (B.E. 2464), Viset Niyom officially became Thailand’s first toothpaste brand. 

As production expanded, the couple chose On Nut as the location for their factory, making it a landmark in the community for over a century. Though the manufacturing plant has since relocated to Chonburi, the brand remains deeply connected to Bangkok, carrying forward its heritage and loyal following.
